| Pastor Mike Morris |
Mike Morris is the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Antelope Valley, located in the northern area of Los Angeles County, in Southern California. Mike and his wife Mary have been married for 35 years and have two grown children.
Mike has been involved with Calvary Chapel dating back to the days of the Jesus Movement of the 60's and 70's. He served as the assistant pastor of Calvary Chapel High Desert in Hesperia, California for 20 years prior to taking the position of the Senior Pastor in the Antelope Valley in 2005. What is your most memorable moment at Calvary Chapel Antelope Valley? The greatest moment that I can remember was when we had guest musician Marty Goetz come to our church. The Spirit just moved in those services that morning in a way that words can't explain, and our church hasn't been the same since. The effect of the worship, the response to the teaching of The Word, it was just phenomenal.
When and how did Jesus become real to you? I was 19 years old, and a series of extremely difficult events had taken place in my life. In loneliness and frustration, without seeing any hope, I put a gun to my head to take my life. One last request, I asked God, if He was real, to reveal Himself right then, or this was going to be the end of things. Although I couldn't explain at the time what took place, the only feeling that I had was like a huge burden was being lifted off of me, and I suddenly felt that there was a reason to live. It took months for that to be revealed to me, but I realized that God was real, and He gave me new hope and a new reason to live. I've never looked back since.
